Every once in a while we come across an awesome property, at a fair price. Therefore, we feel that it’s our duty to showcase the property, in hopes that someone will purchase it who will be a good steward for the building in years to come. In this particular case, the building in question is located at 401 Northland Avenue, which just so happens to be located in close proximity of the incredible Northland Development Project.

401 Northland Avenue is the former rectory for the neighboring church. Currently, the historic stone structure is classified as “Inn/Lodge/Boarding house”. Zillow has listed property features as: 12 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms on 2 floors, common area kitchen, living rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors, a beautiful space in the basement (all with fireplaces), and a two car detached garage is in the rear. The property has been featured on Airbnb in the past, which means that it’s currently in relatively good shape. Here’s the rest of the description:

Built as St. Francis de Sales Catholic Rectory in 1918 by noted city-hall architect George Deitel, there is potential for historic tax credits on this property. Features include original hardwood floors, original oak woodwork, updated windows, updated electrical panels, copper plumbing, new gas lines throughout, alarm system, exterior lighting, ashphalt roof replacement, large 62′ by 140′ lot, stone garage rebuilt to plan, concrete off-street parking, gated driveway, next door to Boys and Girls Club, 1 block to Hamlin Park School, and 6 blocks to Canisius College.

everyone welcome to this ongoing event every sunday at noon. treat yourself to this beautiful class. come as you are.. all ages and levels welcome. we have mats if you don’t.

dao yin translates as “cultivating the chi”, lung shen as “dragon spirit” (like the serpentine energy of the kundalini.) this system evolved about 1650 AD. it is a chinese tradition evolved and practiced by taoist mystics to heal illness, process stress and slow the aging process. as with all forms of yoga, the rewards are many, including increased strength, flexibility, grace and endurance. all systems and organs are benefitted, including the muscular and skeletal systems, digestion, immune function, oxygen distribution and lymphatic flow. the endocrine system is also uniquely activated releasing hormones and endorphins into the body. dao yin has the intent of integration of mind, body and spirit. the focus on careful regulation of breath, deep states of relaxation, and specific postures and movements create well-being. regular practice can help you attain a balance of energy, which promotes the free flowing activity of the vital energy we call chi. dao yin opens the energy pathways so that the chi may flow unimpeded. it can be used for both healing and power in chinese medicine. ultimately with this combination of postures, breathing, movements and concentration, a resonant cord is struck with the spirit. this integration of the internal and external creates a more sensitive consciousness, a certain enlightened awareness, and an overall sense of well-being.

Calling all NYS Arts Professionals! Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) announces Take Back the Walls, a juried exhibition of artworks by New York State artists who also work in museums, galleries and arts organizations. This new, statewide project will highlight the many talented creatives employed by New York’s numerous arts institutions and galleries, yet are often behind the scenes.

RoCo invites employees of museums, visual art spaces and galleries to come into the light and take back the walls to which they have dedicated so much. Anyone who is employed by an arts organization in New York State is invited to submit work for display in Take Back the Walls. This exhibition is juried by Karlos Carcamo, a multidisciplinary artist and a framer at The Museum of Modern Art in NYC. There is a $10 registration fee per artist. Each artist may enter up to 6 submissions (artworks). RoCo will aim to exhibit a small body of work by each selected artist. Submissions will be accepted through Sunday, June 30 at 5pm.

*We know submission websites can be a PIA. We decided to use ArtCall in order to keep the submissions organized and to easily facilitate guest jurying. Registration fees will pay for the service and the juror(s). To Register and Login: thewalls.artcall.org

This fun event highlights the creativity of dog parents and the patience of their dogs in costumes as they compete to see which dog is “Most Patriotic” and “Dog/Owner Look-alike”, where dog and owner demonstrate the best combined costume/theme. The check in for Patriotic Paws begins at 5:30pm in the Municipal Parking Lot at the corner of Broadway and Central Avenue in the Village of Lancaster. At 6:30pm, pups and parents will take a short stroll down Central Avenue before returning to be judged in the costume contest at approximately 7pm. Registration fees for Patriotic Paws are: • Preregistration: $7.00 for first dog in a family and $5.00 for each dog after that • Day of Event Registration: $10.00 for first dog in a family and $5.00 for each dog after that • Preregistration on Eventbrite: https://tinyurl.com/PatrioticPaws4 All proceeds from the event will benefit Lancaster Unleashed’s Fund the Fence campaign. As recently announced, Lancaster Unleashed’s Dog Park will be established on approximately 1.5 acres of land in Erie County’s Como Lake Park. Our single largest expenditure will be installing a vinyl coated chain-link fence, which includes a sally port gate system. Members of the Lancaster Unleashed Board of Directors will be present to answer your questions about the location of the dog park and how you can share your talents with the organization as a volunteer. We are looking forward to another fun event and hope you will be able to join us. For more information, contact Mary C. St. Mary, Vice President, Lancaster Unleashed, at (716) 867- 7973.
